Call for Art for Lewiston Downtown Master Plan

Call for Art for Lewiston Downtown Master Plan

Call for Art Issued for Lewiston Downtown Master Plan’s Art Exhibit

The first call for art has been issued to hire artists to lead citizen engagement in the Lewiston Downtown Master Plan. Artist proposals are due November 30, 2018.

The call seeks art centered around themes of downtown Lewiston’s future sense of community, vitality, and built environment. Artists will receive a stipend of up to $5,000 for their work, which will be displayed at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History from February 1 to March 23, 2019.

Selected artists will create art that challenges community members to re-think downtown Lewiston through the artist’s eyes. Community members who view the exhibit will be asked to provide feedback via a survey, which will inform the development of the Master Plan for Downtown Lewiston.

Funding for the project was provided by a $25,000 National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” secured by Beautiful Downtown Lewiston Revitalization Corporation to support artist-lead citizen engagement in the development of a Master Plan for downtown Lewiston.  Additional information about the role of creative placemaking in the development of the Lewiston Downtown Master Plan is available on BDL’s website.
